My Spring Holiday Plans
Every year in Taiwan, we have several different holidays. This year, from April 3rd through April 6th, we have our Spring Break holiday. During this holiday, my family typically goes to visit the graves of our ancestors to pay respects. We also clean the house and take advantage of these days to rest at home. Additionally, we like to go to the movies or visit tourist spots to take photos and enjoy delicious food.Other people like to travel abroad, go on local vacations, or participate in cultural events and temple festivals. Some also use this time to rest at home or catch up on hobbies. In addition, many families visit the graves of their ancestors during this period to pay their respects. This year, my plans are as follows.
On the first day of the spring holiday, I’m going to go to my hometown in Xinying, Tainan. I will first return to my ancestral home to pay respects to my ancestors. Then, I will go to Nantougang to clean the graves of my great-grandfather and great-grandmother. After that, I will visit the columbarium to honor my grandfather and grandmother. This is an important tradition for my family, and it is a time for us to show our gratitude and remembrance. After finishing the rituals, we will take a walk around the area and enjoy some local Tainan delicacies. Among them, my favorite is Tainan’s Dou Cai Mian bean sprout noodles.
On the second day, I'm going to go to the West District of Taichung with my family. While I’m there, I plan to visit several attractions and enjoy local delicacies.
Taichung’s West District is a lively area with a mix of modern and historic sites. We planned this trip in advance because a foreign friend is visiting Taiwan, and we want to give them a great experience. The district is home to popular spots like the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Calligraphy Greenway, and Miyahara Ice Cream.
On the third day, I plan to go to the movie theater to watch a newly released Taiwanese film. After that, I’ll spend the rest of the day at home, relaxing and reading. Since midterm exams are coming up, I need to prepare for several subjects. It’s the perfect chance to balance entertainment and studying.
During this Spring Break, I will spend time with my family, honoring our ancestors and enjoying local attractions. We will visit Tainan and Taichung, explore cultural sites, and taste delicious food. I will also take time to relax at home, watch a movie, and prepare for my upcoming midterm exams.
